William "Bill" Theodore Turner's Obituary
William (Bill) Theodore Turner, age 85, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away on October 16, 2023, in Orange City, Florida. Bill was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee on May 21, 1938, to Marvin William Turner and Mary Helen Keener Turner Nicholson. Bill graduated from Elizabethton High School and shortly thereafter joined the United States Marine Corps. Bill was stationed at the Marine Barricks at 8th and I in Washington, D.C. While at 8th and I, he was part of the Silent Guard Drill Team and performed in the very first ever Evening parade. He also marched in President Eisenhower's second Inauguration Parade. He was one of a few Marines that were chosen to guard President Eisenhower at the White House, Camp David, and anywhere the President traveled. Bill was a certified Public Accountant, owning his own business. After a very successful career, and to fulfill a lifelong desire, in his seventies, he went back to law school and received the Degree of Juris Doctor. Bill is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth H. Turner and his two sons, Robert T. Turner, wife Mary and Karl J. Turner, wife Jessica. He is also survived his two very special grandchildren, who he loved deeply, William Theodore Turner, II and Rachel Nicole Turner, and several special nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held 11am-12pm with a 12pm Memorial service at Pinecrest Doctors Church, 2129 Old Lewis Road, Johnson City, TN 37601. Interment to follow at 1pm at Happy Valley Memorial Park, 2708 Elizabethton Hwy, Johnson City, TN 37601.
