Harry H. Rogers' Obituary
Harry H. Rogers, age 76, departed this life on February 24, 2011 in Orange City, FL. Harry is survived by his wife, Mary of 50 years; children, Lisa and Lance Rogers; grandchildren, Jessica, Ashley, and Shannon Rogers; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Madelyn Blaile; his mother, Lula Moore and sister Betty Jean Jones of New Jersey; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends. Harry was preceded in death by his younger brother Pete Rogers of Virginia.
Harry Hugh Rogers was born on August 16, 1934 in Quitman, Georgia. He was one of three children born to Hines and Lula Rogers. The family moved to Newark, NJ in 1940 where Harry attended public school and graduated from Central High School. He was a graduate of Winston Salem State University in Winston Salem, NC in 1957.
Harry was drafted into the U.S. Army receiving an honorable discharge in 1959. He began his teaching career in the Newark, NJ school system in September of 1959. He later accepted an elementary teaching position in the Paterson, NJ school district in 1963, and taught there for thirty-one years, retiring in 1994.
There will be a memorial service held at 1 PM on March 5, 2011 at the Baldauff Family Funeral Home & Crematory, Orange City, FL.
