Gloria Finley's Obituary
Gloria graduated from Norwich Free Academy in Norwich, CT in 1941 and worked making bandages during World War II. After her marriage to James Finley on January 3, 1944 she moved to Valejo, CA and was employed in the payroll department at the Mare Island Navy yard. Gloria then enjoyed many years in Connecticut, living with her family in Norwich for 36 years and Waterford for 29 years. She worked beside her husband for more than 30 years in the family business, Finley Screw Machine Products, taking care of paperwork and accounting. Her four children were her top priority and she always arranged her schedule to be at home while the children were there. Gloria enjoyed boating on Long Island Sound with her family; serving the Seventh-day Adventist Church in many supportive capacities behind the scenes; and most of all, spending time with her husband, four children, ten grand-children, and three great grand-children. After her retirement, she and her husband James trailed all over the United States and Canada for 15 years, hitting 44 states. In 2005, the couple moved to Deltona, Florida where she lived until she died peacefully at home in the presence of loving family. Gloria is survived by her husband, James W. Finley; her sister Lucy DeBerry and her husband Bill of Encinitas, CA; her son Mark A. Finley and his wife Ernestine of Haymarket, VA; three daughters - Dale Finley Slongwhite and her husband David of Altamonte Springs, FL, Sandra Finley Doran and her husband Eric of Apopka, FL and Holly Finley David and her husband Lee of Westbrook, CT; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
