Pedro Melendez
When my father "Luis Melendez" moved us to Apopka Cambridge Homes after Hurricane Andrew. Immediately my father & Len the sales person hit it off very well, so well that Lenny decided to introduce my father Luis to Lenny's good friend Tom that at the time lived in Lake Mary. The trio became the best of friends. One day my father was going to visit Tom at his home in Lake Mary and I tagged along. Once there, it was a pleasant introduction for me and with two reasons behind it all. Tom was a hoot, hilarious, funny and I couldn't stop laughing. Tom is probably the only person I know that makes political topics funny. The second pleasant introduction was when shy Erik at that time, came down the stairs hesitant to meet his father's new friends, "strangers really." Tom then threw me the keys to his red Mitsubishi Mighty Max pickup truck and said to me, you two boys have fun and I'll see you back here in two hours. Erik and I hit it off ever sense. Right there we became brothers and family too, so much so that Tom sold his Lake Mary home and moved down the street from us in Apopka on Country Landing Blvd. I can easily say, having Tom & Erik down the street from us was a blessing! They attended every birthday party and all the holidays with us. Every weekend Tom, Erik and myself would play basketball. The funniest memory I have was when Tom invited me to play basketball and I thought to myself, I'll run laps around this old geyser but to my surprise, he was an outstanding basketball player! Oh, wow his fade away was unstoppable and whenever I would beat him, he'll immediately challenge me to a game of horse. He always won :)! Well Uncle Tom, I love you dearly and miss you with all of my heart. Rest in Paradise Ranger. Join you son Erik in Heaven. Join my father Luis Melendez aka your best friend and my brother Hector Luis Melendez. Our Family reunion in Heaven has started. I'll Join you soon. (386) 693-6113
