Doris L. Weller's Obituary
On January 3rd, 2023 Doris L. Weller left this earth to rejoin her best friend of 70 years Milton W. Weller to continue their life’s journey together. Next stop, a trip down the Mississippi River together per their request. Milton's study of wildlife involved a tremendous amount of time on the Mississippi Flyway and many of those hours were spent with Doris in tow with her binoculars and bird books. After many years of this, the bird books were really not needed much as Doris became a top birder and spotted many subjects of interest before Milton did. She was his right hand and eyes.
Doris was also involved with many of Milton's students as it was more of a birder’s family affair. Milton, Doris and students often traveled together with Doris often being the one to spot subjects first, as recounted by more than one student. This went on for years after the students graduated as the birding family stayed in contact and met often. Doris was blessed by many of those students staying in contact with her until the time of her passing five years after Milton’s passing.
Doris was born in St. Louis and married Milton at age 18. She helped support Milton through college before becoming a housewife so she could travel much of the world in search of the next rare find and many new experiences.
Doris is survived by her Son Mitchel W. Weller and Daughter-In-Law Bobbie Weller. The Weller family thanks all of the students and associates that have kindly stayed in touch. Your support means far more than you know!
