William J Selwitschka's Obituary
William J Selwitschka passed away at Advent Health hospital in Daytona Beach on July 9, 2021. Bill was born on December 27, 1929, to parents William A and Daisy J (Laudenklos) Selwitschka in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Bill enjoyed a long career with the Marines, having served in Vietnam and the Korean War, and achieving the rank of Captain. After retirement from his military career, Bill went on to consult within the computer technology field. Bill’s passions included golf, both as a participant and spectator, watching tennis and football, enjoying movie classics, reading books on numerous subjects, following the stock market, and spending “wine time” outside to watch the birds and squirrels. He genuinely enjoyed traveling, with Hawaii and Costa del Sol as two of his favorite vacation destinations. As a snowbird, Bill eagerly looked forward to his weekly morning coffee discussions and evening card games with family and friends while in Oshkosh.
Bill will be greatly missed by his loving wife, June (Gordon)(Sanford, FL) of 14 years, son William Selwitschka, Jr. (Ohio), sisters Helen Selwitschka (Florida), Donna Caulkins (Jack, deceased), Fran Mondl (Richard, deceased) (Rosandale), brothers Jim Selwitschka (Judy) (Appleton) and Jerry Selwitschka (Debbie), (Clintonville) and stepchildren, Bonnie Glester (Wyoming), Judy Bellamy (John, deceased) (Florida), Terry (Rik) Williams (Florida), Thomas (Cindi) (Florida), Philip Gordon (Florida) and Alex Gordon (Wisconsin), his 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren (one deceased), 18 step great grandchildren and 3 great great step grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, wife Carol (Oshkosh), daughters Jean Allison and Ruth Ann Selwitschka, Roberta Selwitschka, sisters Julia and (Sy) Griswold (Berlin), Ruth and (Wallace) Dickson (Oshkosh), brothers John Selwitschka (Carol) and Rolande, and Jack Selwitschka (Debbie).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s, Midwest Shelter for Homeless Vets, Inc. or your favorite charity in Bill’s name. A private family celebration of life in both Florida and Wisconsin will be held later. Arrangements are in the care of Baldauff Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
