Virginia 'Charlene' Cole's Obituary
Charlene Potter Cole was peacefully guided home on February 11, 2012 by the loved ones who've gone before her; mother Pearl Quillen Potter father George Potter aunt/stepmother Kentucky Skaggs and stepmother Elvira Potter, daughter Louise Kathleen and grandson Kevin Jester. Husband Leslie Earl Cole passed in August 1983 after 49 years of marriage.
She leaves behind her children Ronald and Ann Cole of Deland, Fl. Zuma and Tom Utermohlen of Conover, Oh. Deltona, Fl. Larry and Elaine Cole of Deltona, Fl. Garry and Rachel Cole of Grapevine, TX
Charlene was born January 21, 1919 and married May 26, 1934 in Greenup Co. Kentucky. Later they moved to Troy Ohio to raise their family. She and Leslie also owned and operated the Polar Penquin restaurant/ice cream shop in Troy. She was an active member of first Baptist Temple and volunteered in the children's Bible study.
She and Leslie retired to Deltona Florida and joined the first Baptist Church on Providence in 1968 and again volunteered in the children's Bible study. She was the oldest member of the church for many years as she has just celebrated her 93rd birthday. Celebrating with her from near and far were her grand children, great and great-great; Debbie Rogers with Tara, Kristen, Stephanie, with Carlos, Canaan, and Ayahna and Zachery, Dawn Foster, Kyle Jester. Kathy, Karla, Kelly, and families. Derek Cole, Chad Cole, Dana(Wainwright) Eric Sr, Eric Jr, Ember, Tenley and Eli Cole, Chance Cole, Lindsey Cole, Travis Cole, Lisha and Rodd Garrison, Joshua and Jonathan Cole, and many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be at Baldauff Funeral Home Wed, 2/15/12 @12 to 2pm, service @ 2pm led by Byron Hershenroder of Deltona Faith Baptist Church and @3pm burial @ Deltona Memorial Gardens(right next door). Refreshments to follow at Zuma's home, 1019 Eleanor Ave. at 4pm. and at Larry's 3131 Howland Blvd.
