Thomas Clay Turner, 79, of Plant City, Florida passed away peacefully on the morning of July 20, 2026 , surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on December 4, 1946, in Plant City, Florida, Tom proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Corporal. He served from 1964 to 1968, including service in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967. His military service was a source of great pride throughout his life.
Following his service, Tom worked for many years as a butcher, or "Meat Cutter," a profession he took great pride in. He believed in hard work and providing for those he loved.
Tom enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved fishing, boating, tending his garden, and watching NASCAR. But more than anything, he loved being surrounded by his family.
Tom had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. If you were around him, there was almost always a joke coming or a reason to smile. His quick wit and playful personality brought joy to those around him, and that is how so many will remember him.
Tom is survived by his devoted wife, Lillian "Candy" Turner; his children, Sean Turner (Lacinda), Alethea Alexander (Greg), Theresa Turner (Alex), and Travis Turner; his stepchildren, Cory Schumacher (Jenny), Amber Schumacher, and Daniel Wilson (Lorraine).
He was a proud grandfather to Tapanga, Kassandra, Blake, Slaton, Victoria, Layla, Tavion, Zavian, and Laurelle, and a beloved great-grandfather to Tyson, Moxan, and Murphy.
Tom lived a life of service, hard work, laughter, and love. While our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in the memories he gave us, the laughter he shared, and the love he had for his family. He will forever be missed, deeply loved, and never forgotten.
Thomas Clay Turner will be laid to rest at Springhead Cemetery in Plant City, Florida.
