Theodore J Moo's Obituary
I am going to tell you about my dad, not write his obituary. His name is Theodore J. Moo and he has been a very special man. He has been a perfect father, an exceptional husband, a devoted grandfather and a loyal friend. Those who knew him called him Ted, or Teddy, but never Theodore. Of course, I just called him Daddy. He was born July 23, 1940 in South Bend, Indiana, but spent the majority of his life in Florida. He was attentive, present, loving, kind and had a smile that would light up a room. You could count on Ted for his quick-wittedness and sense of humor. One Christmas morning a few years ago, I noticed him looking around the house and I was not sure what he was up to. When we all got seated at the table for breakfast, I quickly realized why dad was wandering. He was looking for a hiding spot for his remote-controlled fart machine. Just as we started to eat, Dad began pressing the button. It was hysterical and he was pretty proud of himself for pulling off that prank. I realize this may not be appropriate content, but he would appreciate the humor. He was also MacGyver-like because he could rig up just about anything and always had creative solutions. He had an enormous amount of patience and a keen attention to detail. Ted worked at Lockheed Martin for 42 years as a quality control inspector. He had the appropriate job, carefully testing parts that would be used in military defense rockets and missiles. He was precise in everything he did.
In his younger days, he would ride around in his sporty automobiles and according to his brother, Ted always had the cool stuff. He enjoyed hobbies like fishing, assembling and launching model rockets, reading, and mostly just being with his family. If that family time included being on a pontoon boat cruising down the St. John’s River, then it was a perfect day for Ted. He was proud of his pontoon boat and loved being out on the water with family and friends. Selfless is a word that you could use to describe Ted. He was always giving and he was genuine with his words. He was always appreciative of anything anyone did for him and never expected anything in return. Ted was always a bright light and maybe that is the reason he enjoyed anything that would light up. He had an endless supply of flashlights and kept the Christmas lights on his walker year-round. He knew how to have fun, enjoy life and love. He loved deeply.
Ted passed away on September 16, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Dolores. Ted is survived by his wife of 58 years, Audrey (Connolly) Moo; his daughter, Kimberly Birch, his granddaughter, Kaley Birch; and his two brothers, Tom Moo and Terry Moo. His legacy is the love he has had for his family and that love will provide us the strength to carry on without him. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 1:00-4:00 pm at Chiantis banquet room located at 685 Towne Center Blvd. in Sanford. A lunch buffet will be included. Please wear something blue, Ted’s favorite color.
