Ted Swift Daly's Obituary
Ted Swift Daly, age 88, of John Knox Village in Orange City, passed away on Monday July 9th at Majestic Oaks. He was born in Mohawk/Herkimer, New York on October 5th, 1929 to Harry and Rachel Daly.
He attended General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan and married his High School sweetheart Adelaide Millar on August 25th, 1951 at Dutch Reform Church. He joined General Motors and rose up through the ranks at the Cadillac Motor Division. He had a stint overseas in Japan at Isuzu Motors and then returned to become President and CEO of newly formed GMARA in Detroit.
His top priority was always his family. Preferring to spend his spare time at their summer lake home with the family.
He is survived by his devoted wife Adelaide; sons Jeff (wife Jan) and Scott (wife Linda); daughter Lisa (husband Frealin Craft); nieces Mary Jean, Nancy, Linda Sue (Cindy Lou), Susan and Joan; nephews Bill, John, Kevin and Todd; great nieces Aimee, Rachael, Morgan and Erin, great nephews Kevin, John and Ryan; granddaughters Lauren (husband Leonard), Krysta, Kelsey and Amanda; grandson Cameron and great granddaughter Samantha.
He was always involved with the church choir, whether it be a tenor, bass or choir director and he loved working with his hands. He would energetically design and build any contraption we would dream up.
He had a delightful sense of humor. It's a gift he's handed down to his family over the generations. He made the world a little better by being a role model and cheerleader to all of his extended family. No matter what, he taught all of his family to always do the right thing.
