Susan Smith Byrd's Obituary
Susan Smith Byrd, 71, of Lake Mary, FL passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2011. She was born on May 13, 1940 in Evanston, IL to parents Dean and Catherine (Meisch) Smith. Mrs. Byrd moved to Sanford, FL in 1952 from Chicago, IL and then moved to Lake Mary in 1967. Susan retired after 25 years of service, as a Pharmacy Technician for Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford. She was a lifelong member of the Beta Sigma Phi and in her spare time she enjoyed gardening, fishing and sewing. Susan will always be remembered as loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Rex A. Byrd in 2005 and is survived by her sons, Richard Byrd (Kathy) and Jeffery Byrd; daughters, Melanie Steinmetz (John) and Catherine Vontalge (Richard); sister, Sarah Welch; grandchildren, Richie, Cody, Steven, Elizabeth, Matthew, Daniel, Michael, Tiffany, Jacob and Ashley; 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A private family inurnment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery on November 25, 2011. The family will be having a reception in their home, 409 Hightower Dr., DeBary, FL 32713, it will be open to all friends and family at 12:30 pm, November 25, 2011.
