Shirley Victoria Glomb's Obituary
Shirley Victoria Glomb, 88, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2025.
Shirley was born January 7, 1937 in Providence, Rhode Island. She was the daughter of the late Mary Rose (Meuerle) Drummond and Byron B. Drummond.
Shirley graduated from St Mary's High School (Providence, Rhode Island) in 1954.
Shirley worked most of her life in administrative positions, and was owner of several small businesses in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.
Shirley was a gifted artist and artisan and shared her talents with family and friends. Some of her favorite media included quilting, crocheting, Nantucket baskets, needlepoint, reverse glass painting, and tole painting. She was an avid genealogist, and was particularly proud of her Scottish ancestry. Shirley was a voracious reader and crossword enthusiast. She was also an avid golfer for most of her adult life.
She was most recently a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Debary, FL, where she served in the church food bank with her late husband Richard. Shirley also donated her time and talent to other charitable organizations in central Florida, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.
Remaining to cherish Shirley’s memory are her five children: Peter Johnson, Stephen Johnson and wife Carmen, Laura Phipps and husband Stan, James Johnson and wife Susan, Mark Johnson and wife Lynne, step son Timothy Glomb and wife Tifany, stepson Matthew Metropoulos and wife Jackie, and stepdaughter Jane Krobot. She also leaves several grandchildren: Justin Day, Emily Johnson, Danika Johnson, Adam Johnson and wife Kysesen, Benjamin Johnson, Kerrie Johnson, Jackson Glomb, Whitney Glomb, Blake, Morgan and Alec Metropoulos, and Michael and Kathryn Krobot.
Preceding Shirley in death are infant daughter Martha Elizabeth, husband James Metropoulos, husband Richard Glomb and half-sister, Marilyn Lasher.
The funeral mass will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 26 Dogwood Trail, Debary FL on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.
