Shirley Elaine Burgess Mee's Obituary
Shirley Burgess Mee, long-time resident of Deltona, died on Palm Sunday, she was 79. Beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she was adored by all. One of 12 children born to Joseph L. and Catherine E. Burgess, she is survived by her son Gene, daughter-in-law Dee, granddaughter June, sisters Ruth, Catherine, and Carol, brother Albert, friend and niece Kim Bisson, nieces Cindy Holota, Diana Jillson, great-niece Rebecca Viteri, and countless other nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her son James, father and mother Joseph and Catherine, brothers Joseph, James, George, Ernie and Eldred (Butch), and sisters Vivian and Sarah (Sally). Following a long career in the insurance business, Shirley spent her last 20 years as a server for Cracker Barrel Restaurant in Sanford doing what she loved best: serving her customers and friends and making them feel special.
A memorial service celebrating Shirley's life will be held for friends and family at 2 PM on Wednesday the 8th of April, at Baldauff Family Funeral Home, 1233 Saxon Blvd, Orange City. A private internment ceremony will be held immediately following at the Hollywood Cemetery in Orange City.
