Sarah Theresa Rodriguez (nee Lowery) 82 of Lake Helen passed away September 22, 2023.
Sarah was born August 8, 1941 in Poughkeepsie, New York to James H. and Elizabeth Lowery (nee Horton). She is survived by her husband, Roy A. Rodriguez; children Lisa Beth Lattin, Sobeida Lattin, and Lisa Ann Padavan; brother Robert Lowery; sister Janine Gleason. Sarah is preceded in death by her son Donald R. Lattin Jr.; sisters Patricia Deger, and Barbara Hedrick; brother Richard Lowery. I’d like to share a little bit about my mom. Of course she’s one of a kind. Like others she enjoyed gardening, but her garden was magical. What a thrill she got when someone would view it for the first time. An ordinary home with privacy fence hid the jewel that was mom’s pride and joy. Together with Dad, they designed and built their own pergolas, linked by pathways through exquisite plantings. Each year we watched them disappear beneath a canopy of cascading Wisteria blossoms. Beauty wasn’t enough, it had to function as a wildlife sanctuary as well. Her efforts were rewarded with frequent sighting of caterpillars pupating, butterflies emerging, hummingbirds and songbirds; all creatures welcome. There was one thing that surpassed her botanical talents and that was her love and devotion to her rescue dogs. A dog on death row couldn’t be ignored. She and Dad would drive anywhere at anytime to rescue one in the nick of time. Her treasures, Wesley, Bear, Pappy and Jasper were all given a second chance at life through Mom’s love. I could go on and on. She travelled, was mischievous, funny, incredibly inappropriate and full of love. To say she is missed is a gross understatement, her departure incomprehensible. A celebration of Sarah’s life will take place at a later date to be announced as soon as possible.
