Robert M Powell's Obituary
Robert M. Powell, 84 passed away December 17, 2024. He was born July 18, 1940 in Trevelac, Indiana. The son of Raleigh and Lovie Powell. He is survived by his children, Tina McKinney, Carrie Holmes, Scott Powell, Amanda (John) Fisher. Also survived by 17 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren. Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Karen S Powell, Son Robert K. Powell, Great Grand daughter Vayda S. Parmer, his parents, Raleigh H and Lovie L Powell, Sisters Dee Trimble, Marge Woods, Bess Johnson, Brothers Dale Powell, Clifford Powell, David Powell, and Raleigh Powell.
He was employed by Amtrak as a Training Development Engineer. He graduated from Mt. Auburn High School in Indiana, and received his Associates Degree from University of Hawaii. Robert served as a Sergeant First Class, in the United States Army and served three tours in Vietnam as a Special Forces Green Beret. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, January 5, 2025 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 712 Main St, Beech Grove, Indiana 46107. Gathering of family and friends from 1-4pm. Donations may be made in Robert's memory to Support.woundedwarriorproject.org
Due to severe weather in Indiana expected January 5th, the family has decided to postpone his service to a later date, to be determined. Gathering of family and friends March 16, 2025 from 12:00-4:00 PM with service at 1:00 PM at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 712 Main Street, Beech Grove, Indiana 46107.
