Robert Frank Pennington's Obituary
Robert (Bob) Frank Pennington passed away peacefully on December 17, 2016. Born in Paris, KY on December 24, 1921, he was the son of Ben and Maude Pennington, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Evelyn M. Pennington. He is also survived by his son, Robert Scott Pennington, son, James Dale Pennington, daughter, Sandra Lynn Pennington Arenburg, granddaughters, Jessica Pennington and Sarah Arenburg, grandsons, James Pennington, Jr., and Shane Leitmeyer, and great grandchildren, Ryder and Layla. Bob was a proud to have been a member of the Army Air Corp. during WWII. He flew C-46s across the perilous Himalayan Mountain range from India to China, often referred to as “The Hump”, bravely carrying gasoline and supplies to our allies. Following the war, Bob worked for State Farm Insurance Company for 38 years. During his career, he was both an agent and an agency manager in Jacksonville, Florida; Statesboro, Georgia; and St. Augustine, Florida. Bob was an avid golfer and fisherman and enjoyed serving as an usher for Vesper services at John Knox Village in Orange City, Florida where he lived. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial service will be held on January 8, 2017, at 3:00 p.m., at the John Knox Village Activities Center located at 101 Northlake Drive, Orange City, FL 32763.
