Raymond "Ray" Ceynowa's Obituary
Ray Ceynowa passed into his eternal rest peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, at the age of 97. Ray was born in Perham, Minnesota on October 27, 1928.
Born with a curious mind and a strong work ethic, Ray lived a full and multifaceted life. He served his country as a sailor and rose to the rank of Navy Chief Petty Officer, carrying that sense of discipline and dedication with him throughout his years. During his life Ray was also both, a teacher and a mechanic, always ready to lend a hand or fix what others could not. A natural problem-solver, Ray was known for “MacGyvering” his own tools and solutions—his way of doing things was not only unique, but highly recommended!
Ray was also proud to have contributed his skills during the era of the Apollo missions while working at NASA, playing a small part in one of history’s greatest achievements.
In his personal life, Ray found joy in simple pleasures. He spent his earlier years fishing and bowling, later turning to golf, a game he enjoyed well into his later life. He tended to a beautiful garden where he grew tomatoes he didn't eat. He also appreciated a good Manhattan or a Yuengling or two shared in good company.
Fiercely independent to the very end, Ray lived life on his own terms, with quiet strength and steady determination. Above all, he was a good man—a father who will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by those who knew and loved him.
He is predeceased by his wife Susan. He is survived by his son Wayne Ceynowa; daughter, Paula Ceynowa Kline; grandchildren, Stephen Ceynowa, Jessica Kline Long, and Christopher Kline; three great grandchildren, Olivia Ceynowa, Jacen Long and Owen Ceynowa; as well as extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the things he fixed, and the lives he touched.
