Perry Robbins Andrews Jr.'s Obituary
Perry Robbins Andrews Jr. passed peacefully from this life on March 23, 2015, with his devoted wife of 28 years by his side. He was born to Elsie and Perry R. Andrews in New York City. He grew up in Mamaroneck, NY with his sisters Marie (Hoyt) Yeatman, Elizabeth Nask, and Bonnie (Jim) Konrady.
He worked for the Western Electric Company in New York and Washington, D.C. until he joined the Navy in 1942. He served in the Pacific Fleet and was a plank owner of the USS Sitkoh Bay on which he served throughout WWII. He left the Navy as a 1st Class Petty Officer in 1945 and returned to New York. He worked the next 43 years for, and, retired from AT&T / Lucent Technologies, after a career of managing the installation of central office equipment in the five boroughs of New York, including the initial switching center in the WTC.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Ellen Casey Andrews and his four sons of whom he was immensely proud; Ronald and his wife Carol of Wappingers Falls, NY, Gary and his wife, Sharon of Chestertown,NY, James and his wife, Dorothy of Wappingers Falls, NY and Richard and his wife, Christine of Patterson, NY. Eleven grandchildren: Christopher Andrews, Allison Wright, Amy Rose, Kate, Ryan and Laura Andrews, Melissa Crippen, Jennifer Rivera, Kimberly, Maegan and Richard J. Andrews. Also, great-grandchildren, Kayla, Hope, Shane, Carly, Grace, Emily, Michael, Dylan, Catherine, Jacqueline, Christopher, Gavin, Griffin, and Julia. He is preceded in death by his wartime bride and mother of his sons Catherine.
Perry Robbins Andrews, Jr. excelled in any undertaking and was resolute in prevailing in challenge. He lived his life with sagacity and unshakable honesty, responsibility and fairness. He was a loving husband and father and defender of his country. After 92 years he was granted the rest he so richly deserves and is finally “Home.”
