Patricia Ann Mills' Obituary
Patricia Ann McConnell Mills, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on April 26, 2024, surrounded by her family in the home of her daughter, Teri. Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Joseph Mills, her daughter, Kathleen Marie Cotto, her twin daughters Catherine and Anna, her granddaughter, Nichole Cotto, as well as her parents and six of her seven siblings. Patricia is survived by five daughters, Patricia Ann Hagen (Dennis Hagen), Theresa J. Mills-Uvalle (Victor Uvalle), Barbara Evans (Richard Evans), Carolyn Carbonell (Luis Carbonell), and Melanie Londono (Francisco Londono), in addition to sixteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and her youngest sister, Celie Ohler.
Pat was born on October 31, 1932 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania into a family of eight children, where she was the third child. She attended West Philadelphia High School for girls and played in the percussion section of her school orchestra. She was a skilled pianist and performed the snare drum in the high school marching band. Pat met the love of her life, Thomas Mills (deceased 2006), when she was eighteen years old at a St. Francis of Assisi Hall dance in Philadelphia. When Pat and Tommy married in 1952, they went to Miami Beach, Florida on their honeymoon. They loved Florida so much, they promptly moved down and began raising their family of six daughters: Pati, Teri, Barbara, Kathi, Carolyn, and Melanie. Pat was an active and supportive mom, who transported all her children to athletic events, dance recitals, modeling calls, and school functions.
Pat worked for thirty-five years in the banking system with Citizens National Bank, currently known as Wells Fargo. Pat retired as the bank’s Research Department Manager in Central Florida. She was nicknamed “The Energizer Bunny” by her colleagues, due to her high level of energy and tremendous work ethic. In 1985, they moved into their new home in Deltona, Florida, where Pat remained active in her community. Pat was involved in the Ladies Auxiliary at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church and held leadership positions within the organization. She had a reputation in her neighborhood as a caring woman, who visited her neighbors and provided any needed assistance. She was devoted to her family, church, and community. Pat was a great conversationalist with a beautiful smile and sincere kindness.
Pat was a constant presence in the lives of her family and attended all activities, from Baptisms, First Holy Communions, and Confirmations, to school and sporting events and family celebrations. She was so involved with her family that many of the friends of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren called her G-Ma. She wholeheartedly loved everyone, especially the children. Pat made such an impact on all whose lives she touched, and this world has lost a truly good and loving woman. Pat will genuinely be missed by so many people, especially her family, who loved her dearly. Pat’s “love will never set with the sun, but will forever blanket us through the night”.
