Patricia Mary Fernald's Obituary
Patricia Messner Fernald, 79, went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 31, 2012.
Born in Mystic, Conn., on January 2, 1933, she was predeceased by her mother, Louise Messner Szeker.
Patricia married Charles Elmore Fernald, who survives her, on November 27, 1971. Together, they lived in several locations including Groton, Conn., Thomaston, Maine; Arvada, Colo.; Mokena, Ill.; Downingtown, Pa.; St. Mary’s, Ga.; and Deltona, Fla.
A voracious reader, Patricia was also a talented writer and renowned cook and baker. In the hearts and minds of her family and friends, no Easter will pass without fond memories of her infamous Easter bread, which she shared with hundreds of loved ones every year. She was well known as the gracious hostess of numerous luncheons, parties, and special events for her church, family, and friends.
Patricia was active for many years in a number of church families, including Community Baptist Church in Downingtown, Pa., where she led many women’s activities and Bible studies. She remained steadfastly devoted to the activities and education of her children throughout her life. Her strong legacy will live on through their lives and accomplishments.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons, Michael and Eric of Deltona, Fla., Mark of Jacksonville, Fla., and Chaz and his wife, Sarah, of Kingston, N.Y.; two daughters, Mariellen House of Brunswick, Maine, and Dr. Amber Fernald Rach and her husband, Chris, of Raeford, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Marissa House of Augusta, Maine, and Charles Elmore Fernald III of Kingston, N.Y.
