Norman W Fisher's Obituary
Norman W. Fisher, 77 of Deland, Fl passed away unexpectedly on February 8, 2021. He was born on August 29, 1943 in Rome, NY to parents Edward James Fisher and Rosalie (Ogiba) Fisher, and was lovingly raised by his aunt, Gladys Conley and grandmother, Regina (Pedzimaz) Ogiba.
Following graduation from North Syracuse High School in New York, Norman enlisted in the United States Army, married Ruth Mary (Leonello) Fisher and was honorably discharged in 1965 as a SP4 E-4. Norman was certified electrician for most of his life, and at the time of his passing, worked at Lowe’s Home Improvement.
During their marriage, Norman and Ruth Mary had three children: Andrew E. Fisher, Charles H. Fisher and Ruth Mary (Fisher) Sophie, who shared a lifetime of fond memories. When Norman wasn’t working, he enjoyed hunting with his favorite dog, Midnight, and was often found playing football and basketball in the backyard with his children. The family moved to Florida in 1984 and after 27 years of marriage they divorced.
Many years later, Norman married Mary Priscilla “Liz” Allen in 2005, where they shared a profound love and devotion to each other. Though by marriage, he gained another son, Joseph Shively, whom he had a great amount of love and respect for and shared many laughs and “jabs” with.
Up until his passing, Norman was very active- he worked part-time, where he built many friendships and enjoyed helping the community. When he wasn’t working, he took great pride in doing extensive home improvement projects, and of course doting on his furry, four-legged companion, Gloria.
Norman is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Liz. He is survived by his aunt, Gladys Conley (NY), his children, Andrew Fisher (Shauna Olsen Fisher), Charles Fisher, Ruth Mary (Fisher) Sophie, his step-son Joseph Shively (Nina Shively), and four grandchildren: Charles H. Fisher II, Matthew Fisher, Brianna Sophie and Erica Sophie.
Norman will be laid to rest at Oakdale cemetery in Deland, Fl.
