Nancy Jo McNamara's Obituary
Nancy Jo McNamara,86, of DeBary, Florida, passed away on May 28th with her daughter Kelli and friends by her side.
Nancy was preceded in death by her son Kevin McNamara and her husband Andrew Joseph McNamara. She is survived by her daughter Kelli Cavanaugh (Casey); granddaughter Katie Cavanaugh-Smith (Erickson); grandson Kevin Cavanaugh; and several nieces and nephews.
Nancy was born on September 10th, 1936 to Anna and Harry McKeniff in Mineral Wells, Texas. Her family moved to Kansas City, MO and then Kansas City, KS where she grew up. She attended Kansas State University and graduated with a major in secondary education and a minor in elementary education. After moving to Florida in 1966 she received a master's degree from Rollins College and a specialist degree from UCF.
Nancy was a teacher and guidance counselor at English Estates Elementary. She went on to be the principal at Geneva Elementary and then the Executive Director of Seminole County Elementary Schools. After retirement, she was a coordinator for education majors at UCF. Nancy cherished her years in education. She loved the children and her co-workers.
Nancy was a member of P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization), Alpha Chi Omega and active in the church and community. She loved playing bridge, golfing, traveling and being with family and friends. She loved people and was loved by many.
A memorial service will be on Monday, June 26th at 11:00 AM with a receiving line starting at 10:15 AM at St. Ann's, 26 Dogwood Trail, DeBary, Fl. A luncheon will follow at the DeBary CC, 300 Plantation Club Drive.
