Michael R. McPherson's Obituary
Michael McPherson passed into his eternal rest on July 27, 2026 at the age of 76. He was born in Muncie, Indiana on April 15, 1950, from parents Dorothy and Walter McPherson.
Michael spent much of his life there before later making Florida his home. He retired from Firestone after many years of dedicated service and was especially proud of his time working with the Firestone team at the Indianapolis 500, an experience he often cherished and remembered fondly. In his later years, after moving to Florida, he continued serving his community as a security guard at Tortoise Island .
Michael will be remembered for his jovial spirit, warm smile, and unmistakable resemblance to Santa Claus. His cheerful appearance often delighted children during visits to Disney parks, where they would excitedly ask if he was Santa. With a twinkle in his eye, he would simply reply that he was "on vacation."
He found joy in many of life's simple pleasures. He was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed fishing whenever he had the chance, loved science fiction, and never missed an opportunity to watch his favorite CSI series. His kindness, humor, and easygoing nature made him a friend to many and brought happiness to everyone who knew him.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; Dorothy and Walter McPherson; his sister, Mary Kathleen Davis and his brother, Stephen McPherson.
He is survived by his brother; John McPherson; sister, Patricia Isaacs; as well as a host of beloved nephews, nieces, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Michael's legacy is one of laughter, kindness, and a life well lived. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
