Michael John Kerkhof's Obituary
Michael John Kerkhof, passed into his eternal rest on June 13, 2026 in Orange City Florida at the age of 69. Michael was born in Washington, D.C on December 5, 1956 from parents John F. Kerkhof and Mary Louise Pass.
A lifelong learner, Michael earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and Nursing, reflecting both his analytical mind and his desire to help others. He also found great joy in woodworking, home remodeling, and tackling nearly any repair project. Everyone knew that if something needed fixing, Michael was always ready to lend a hand.
At the time of his passing, Michael was retired after a successful career in engineering process control, where his intelligence, problem-solving abilities, and dedication earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
Outside of his work and projects, Michael was very passionate about motorcycles, especially riding his Harley. He cherished the freedom of the open road and the adventures that came with it, and he took great pride in building cars with all three of his sons, creating lasting memories along the way. Through all of life’s ups and downs—from times of deep loss to moments of joy—Michael and Sue remained a devoted team, standing side by side with unwavering love and strength. Perhaps nothing reflected Michael’s compassionate nature more than his love for animals. He was an avid dog lover and rescuer, opening his heart and home to dogs in need throughout his life.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his beloved wife, Susan Kerkhof; children, Brian Kerkhof (wife, Kim He, MD), Kevin Kerkhof (wife, Bryony Kerkhof) and, daughter in law, Mielle Kerkhof; brother, Stephen Lee Kerkhof (Wife, Lynn Kerkhof); grandchildren, Cadence and Maverick; along with extended family, friends, that will miss him dearly.

Michael will always be remembered for his sharp mind, his big heart, his skilled hands, and his willingness to help anyone in need. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, the projects he built, the animals he rescued, and the love he shared with family and friends.
