Melvin Dennis Coy's Obituary
Melvin Dennis Coy of Deland, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016. He was born on September 8, 1935 in Dayton, Ohio to parents, Everett and Ruth Grosh Coy. Melvin is survived by his wife Jane P. Coy; Daughter, Melanie Krog of Austin, Texas; Sister, Carolyn Vertich of Bradenton, Fl; grandchildren Amanda & Emily Krog. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Ruth Grosh Coy; brother, Allen Coy and sister, Arlene Ritenour. Melvin graduated from The Ohio State University, with a Master’s Degree in Social work and has an under graduate degree from Manchester University in Indiana. He worked for 35 years as a Social worker with children in residential treatment. Later in life, Melvin worked for Florida’s United Methodist Children Home. He enjoyed Ornithology, gardening, golf and reading. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at Baldauff Family Funeral Home, 1233 Saxon Blvd. Orange City, Fl. Reception following at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, 811 Orange Camp Road, Deland, Florida 32724. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Florida United Methodist Children’s Home, 51 Main Street, Enterprise, Florida 32725.
