My favorite Uncle...you will be missed dearly! I had no idea his health had declined. Margo and John invited me to share Thanksgiving with them, Martin, Mari and a handful of their good friends. What a nice group of people to spend the evening with! Martin and I started catching up with each other, and we just kept going...so we pretty much spent the majority of the evening sharing stories, recollections, etc. Sure he was dealing with some health issues, but he was vital, vibrant, nothing to lead me to think that a few months later things would be problematic. Re-connecting with Martin made my night. Uncle Martin and Aunt Mari contributed greatly to my growing up years, letting me join their family for summers. They really made me feel like part of the family and I've always been grateful, with wonderful memories. So here, to Aunt Mari: THANK YOU! And Love, as always. I feel blessed to have been able to share such quality time with Uncle Martin late November 2019, and Marty, you're looking down on all this...I LOVE YOU!

When I think of Martin, I'll always remember the birthday & anniversary celebrations at Margo & John's home. Martin would always tell funny stories and jokes that made everyone laugh and enjoy our time together. As Mari knows, I love her, Martin, Margo & John, and will keep his memory alive by sharing stories of those good times together.

Myself & so many others mourn the loss of Mr. Rotker and our hearts & prayers are with the family. One of the first memories that comes to mind is that every time we spoke on the phone or met in person and I addressed him as Mr. Rotker he would say, "Call me Martin. Mr. Rotker was my father!" And we would always smile and laugh. I also cherish the warm memories of speaking with Margo & John and finding out about the latest things you all were doing for the veterans...whether it was making Christmas gift baskets, cooking or baking up a storm to ensure they had nutritious food & treats, or taking part in a commemorative celebration. You all went above and beyond to ensure the veterans knew they were loved and appreciated. While Mr. Rotker has left us in body, his spirit & memories live on through all who had the honor of knowing him. John Miskell

Mari and family,

Marty was more than a friend. He was a come mber and leader at the 8th Regiment Vets and the NY State Guard. Our fishing trips are some of my best memories. All that fishing at Bailey Lake, our talks and his stories - great times. He was my best friend in civilian and military life. Marty was really like a brother to me. He will be missed. I feel your pain. You are in my thoughts.

What a full and artistic life he led. His work will live on and therefore so will he. The ancient Egyptians believed that as long as a person’s name was spoken he would live on. Mari, I enjoyed riding with you and Marty going to bingo at the American Legion Post. He was a fun bingo caller. I enjoyed dinners with you and family where Marty would tell stories of his life. It was very interesting. I appreciated yours and Marty’s support when my husband died. Marty will be missed. You remain in my thoughts and prayers. Joan Eslin
