Marjorie I Grimes' Obituary
Marjorie I. Grimes passed away peacefully at home on July 16, 2017 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She was born April 3, 1962 in Bradley, Illinois. She was the daughter of Robert and Ione Grimes. Margie graduated from Bradley Bourbonnais H.S. and George Williams College with a degree in Parks and Recreation. For almost 30 years she worked for Broward County Parks in Florida as a Park Manager. Margie also worked for the City of Hollywood and Long Boat Key. She was a dedicated worker and loyal to friends and family.
Growing up Margie was on the BBCHS swim team, the Kankakee YMCA swim team and a swimming instructor. As a Bourbonnais 4-H member she was a member of the 4-H Federation, won the I Dare You award, was awarded many state awards, and was an MC at the state fair competition. Margie was also a staff member in charge of the pool at Camp Shaw. Margie was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Bradley, IL. During high school, she was president of the church’s MYF group.
Margie leaves behind a daughter, Miranda Mony of Fort Lauderdale, Fl., her mother, Ione Chappell, of Sebring, Fl, two sisters, Becky Grimes of Zolfo Springs, FL and Pat (Dan) Farman of St. Anne, IL, one brother, Bob Grimes of Oxford, Alabama, her special friend Mike Williams of Dania Beach, FL and many wonderful friends. She also left behind a niece, Jordan Grimes, and two nephews, John (Jessica) and James (Lynn) Kirchner, three great nephews, Josh, Connor, and Bentley Kirchner and one great niece, Kailey Kirchner.
She was preceded in death by her father Robert Grimes and step father Roy Chappell. Margie loved adventure, the outdoors, sea life, and her family. She will be truly missed.
