Margarita Emilia Cortes' Obituary
Maggie Cortes went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 18th, 2016. She had breakfast that morning and later went to take a nap and the Lord took her peacefully in her sleep. There was no struggle, no pain or suffering.
Maggie was born in Cuba in 1947 later in 1955 fled the country with her brother Luis and parents to Miami Florida as political refugees to create a better life. She got married in 1968 to Norberto Cortes for nearly 25 years and had three sons, Robert Cortes, Paul Cortes and Jason Cortes, and later they divorced, and Norberto Cortes remarried. She had seven grandchildren of which are Andrew Cortes, Sterling Cortes, Stewart Cortes, Adriana Cortes, Ava Cortes, Penelope Ramirez and Stefan Averill.
Maggie worked for Convergys for over 15 years as an email customer support representative and planned to retire in 2016, and she loved her co-workers of which some became her best friends. She became a Christian the last 15 years of her life and served in her local church for some years and made many friends. She was loved by so many always willing to give and to encourage others struggling with life's challenges.
Maggie loved her kids and reading the Bible and other Christian books and enjoyed playing cartoon video games with her grandchildren. On one of her visit to see her brother they did some salsa dancing and shared some laughs. She was smart as a whip and could joke and laugh with the best of us. She will be dearly missed by all she touched and loved.
Funeral services will be held at Baldauff Funeral Home Chapel in Orange City on Saturday, March 26th from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
