Lawrence 'Larry' Joseph Laurine's Obituary
Lawrence Joseph Laurine (Larry) 91, of Mobile, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on
June 13th, 2011.
He was born January 29th, 1920 in Yukon, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, the
third of six children born to Joseph and Sophie Michalek Laurine .
During World War II he served in Okinawa with the Army Medical Corp 381st Station
Hospital. For his service, he was awarded the Asia Pacific Theater Medal with one bronze Star, a Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Larry lived in Washington, Pennsylvania, where he owned and operated Larry Laurine’s
Body Shop, located at 555 Glenn Street, from 1945-1975. He retired to Deltona, Florida
where he started Larry Laurine’s Lawn Care and Pool Maintenance.
He was a skilled craftsman, having built three of the family homes; 575 Glenn Street,
and 1025 Michigan Ave. in Washington, PA, and 1112 Caldwell Ave. in
Orange City, FL.
Mr. Laurine was a founding member of the Deltona Christian and Missionary Alliance
Church, overseeing the bus maintenance and serving as an usher. In Mobile, he was
a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
Larry Laurine is survived by his wife of 69 years, Juanita Cheek Laurine, four children,
Larry (Jeanne) Laurine of Orange City, FL, Thomas A. (Sandy) Laurine of Claysville,
PA, Karen (Park) Mc Farlane of Greensburg, PA, and Dale (Ralph) Gudeman of Mobile, AL, a brother, Robert (Bob)(Audrey) Laurine of La Plata, Maryland, 14 grandchildren,
33 great grandchildren, 5 great, great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Laurine and Thomas S. Laurine,
two sisters, Violet Hollihan and Gertrude Stavovy, and a grandson, John Gudeman.
Visitation where held at the Baldauff Family Funeral Home, 1233 Saxon Blvd.,
Orange City, FL at 10:00AM Thursday, June 16th, with the service following at 11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
