Lawrence "Larry" Herbert's Obituary
Lawrence "Larry" Herbert, born May 17, 1944, to William Herbert and Evelyn Martinet in Suffern, NY, passed away on September 9, 2024, in Deltona, FL.
Larry will be remembered as a devoted husband of 54 years, a loving role model to his children, hardworking and true to his convictions, and as funny as he was stubborn.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Baldauff Family Funeral Home on Thursday, September 19th, from 3-5 pm. The funeral will be at Deltona Alliance Church on Friday, September 20th, at 10 am, followed by an Interment with military honors at Hollywood Cemetery at 11:30 am.
Larry is survived by his wife, Ada Herbert; daughter, Laurie Kiley, and son-in-law, Kevin Kiley; grandchildren, Jacob Kiley and Ella Kiley; siblings, Evelyn Lewis, Carl Herbert, and Jeffrey Herbert; siblings-in-law Francis and Helen Karkkainen; and the beloved families of his favorite nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by his son, Collins Herbert, and brother, Arthur Herbert.
Retired from the U.S. Army with 20 years of service, highlights from Larry’s very diverse work experiences include serving as a driver and assistant to a large animal veterinarian, an electrician in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years, a star salesman at Bob’s Cycle Shop in Sayre, PA, a helicopter mechanic in the U.S. Army for 16+ years, and a computer-aided drafter for the Florida Department of Transportation. Throughout his life, Larry was an avid amateur radio operator, motorcycle adventure rider, and woodworker.
