Lawrence Francis McCullough's Obituary
Mr. Lawrence F. McCullough entered into the gates of heaven on January 10, 2013.
Larry came into this world on June 11, 1931, in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania ad the fourth of five sons born to Catherine and Edward McCullough. He served his country as a member of the United States Army from June 16, 1948 to March 27, 1952 in the Korean War where he received several medals for Service, National Defense, Honor, Efficiency and Fidelity. After returning to the United States, he went to work for the Experimental Division of Pratt & Whitney Aircrafts in Palm Beach, Florida where he was part of the team building prototypes and refining jet engines which included the rocket engines which helped to further mans, jump into space. One of his engines is in the Smithsonian today.
But according to Larry, his greatest legacy is the people he left behind. The love of his life, his wife of 60 years, Regina; his children: Regina, Larry, Cathy, Valarie and Tom. His seven grandchildren: Regina, Larry III, Melissa, Megan, Christina, James, A.J., and their spouses Jed, Kevan, Jorge; and of course, his pride and joy, his six great grandchildren: Lilly, Jayden, Ginny, Ashlynn, Sammy and Landon. He also leaves behind one brother, his best friend, James McCullough and sister-in-law, Dorothy.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Angela.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, January 17, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at St. Clare Catholic Church, 2961 Day Road, Deltona, Florida followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Father Carlos Bedoya officiating. Interment with full military honors will be at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1295 Saxon Boulevard, Orange City, Florida.
