Judith Harriett Frazier's Obituary
Judith Harriet Frazier, loved wife/mother/gram/great grandma, passed away at her home in Deltona, Florida on April 29, 2017 at the age of 93. She was born in Mendota, Illinois. Her father, Harry Howard, worked for Moose Heart, a Moose club children's home, all his life. Juanita Reder Howard, her mother, remained at home with the children and was an award-winning cook. She had one sister, Patricia Fry, who she dearly loved. Judith became a registered nurse at her father's urging, and had a wonderful career in many aspects of nursing for 45 years. She said she loved every minute of being a nurse. Her last 20 years of nursing she worked at Moose Haven in Orange Park, Florida in the nursing home as a pharmacist. Her great sense of humor was appreciated by her patients, as well as her friends and family. Judith met and married Donald Lee Frazier, a military man, on November 4, 1950, and enjoyed more than 50 years of marriage, until Donald's death in 2003. Together, they had a daughter, Debra Frazier, married to Martin Mundy, and a son, David Gene Frazier, married to Christina Morehouse Frazier. Three grandchildren, Elysia Mbuja, Shea Frazier, and Bryce Frazier, were deeply loved and always supported by their fun-filled 'Gram.' She also had four great- grandsons, Rafi Mbuja,14, Jayden Mbuja, 10, and Asher Frazier and Ian Frazier, twins, 1. She was “pink gramma” to her beloved nephew, Howard Fry's children, Spencer Fry and Jennie Fry. Judy's passion for life showed in so many ways. She loved ALL animals, especially cats, and lamented the loss of habitat for the polar bears. She got to swim with the dolphins in Cancun, a bucket list wish, when she was 86. She was a Cubs fan all her life, never gave up on them, and got to see them win the World Series when she was 92. She loved to swim in her pool and the ocean, and loved Florida. Her many hand-made quilts (every stitch), are family heirlooms, and most all family members have at least one of the more than 50 quilts she made in her life-time. Bingo was a favorite activity, too. She was active in NARFE, as secretary and adviser regarding member benefits. She was generous, compassionate, and spunky, and she will not be forgotten for that special spirit which she radiated to all. A celebration of her life will be on Saturday, July 1st, at 11:00 AM, at the Deltona Presbyterian Church, 2300 Howland Blvd., Deltona, FL 32738. Everyone who knew her is invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, Judy would be happy to have donations to go to Journey's End Animal Sanctuary, PO Box 220163, Glenwood, FL 32722. This is a home for unwanted animals at the end of life, or better still, adopt a pet of your own!
