Juanita Althea Kitchen Williams Price was the oldest of four children born to the late Henry and Winifred (nee Benton) Kitchen in DeLand, Florida on March 17th 1921. At the age of six she moved to New Rochelle, New York and returned to DeLand in 1933 after the death of her mother and was raised by her dearly beloved Grandmother Nellie Benton.
Juanita was the valedictorian of the Euclid High School class of 1942 in DeLand. She attended Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida on an academic and basketball scholarship. After college Juanita relocated to Montclair, New Jersey, where she worked for the Social Security Administration in East Orange and later transferred to the Sanford office when she returned to Florida in 1978. She retired in June 1981, after working for the Federal Government for many years. She also worked for the Jewish Ledger Newspaper in Newark, New Jersey as an Associate Editor. Juanita was married to the late Albert Williams and to that union was blessed with one son, Leonard. She later married James Price, who brought to the union two blessed daughters, Deborah and Lynn. Juanita loved the Lord and was a Woman of Faith. She was baptized at the age of ten at Union Baptist Church in New Rochelle, New York. Her most cherished memory of that day was the vision she experienced; a dove flying above and then hearing an angelic voice as she exited the baptism pool. She loved people and often said that her daily prayer was to help wherever she saw the need. During her lifetime she was a member of Union Baptist Church, New Rochelle, New York; Greater Union Baptist Church, DeLand, Florida; St. Paul’s Baptist Church, Montclair, New Jersey and Faith Baptist Church, Deltona, Florida; serving the Lord in various capacities. She and James joined Faith Baptist Church in 1979 and was a volunteer with the Joy Missionary Circle which she loved very much. Juanita was predeceased by her loving husband, James W. Price; granddaughter Deanna N. Brownlee and her siblings. She leaves behind to cherish her memory a son, Leonard L. Williams (Tanya); daughters, Deborah J. Price and Lynn M. Brownlee-Williams (Douglas). Seven grandchildren; Juanita Hernandez (Thomas), Leonard L. Williams II, Tia Williams, Lea Williams, Scott Pearson and Todd Pearson (Elissa).
