Joseph Anthony Alemany's Obituary
Joseph Anthony Alemany, age 46, suddenly passed away on July 14th 2023 in his home in
Washington DC from a congenital heart condition.
Joseph was born on February 20th 1977 to Kathleen and Joseph Alemany in Huntington, NY.
After Joseph graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1995, he went on to study at UMassBoston. In college, Joseph fell in love with performance physiology science. As an athlete and
scholar, he developed a passion for optimizing human physical performance.
Upon receiving a B.S. in Exercise Physiology, Joseph enlisted in the Army in 2001 as a medical
laboratory technician. He subsequently worked as a biological research assistant at the U.S.
Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine in Natick, MA. Joseph’s work focused on
how to help soldiers prepare for military operational stress. In 2011, he earned a Master of
Science degree in Applied Physiology from the University of South Carolina. For 13 years,
Joseph served as a biological research assistant in the Army National Guard in Maryland where
he was rated as “most qualified” and was awarded several achievement medals and
certificates of appreciation.
Over the course of his career, Joseph has authored and contributed to three dozen scientific
publications and presented at numerous conferences. Always advancing his education, he
worked towards a doctorate in health sciences. At the time of his passing, Joseph was a senior
business development manager in the whole health division at Leidos where he continued to
pursue his lifelong goal — optimizing human performance for national security.
He is remembered by his colleagues and family for his exemplary work ethic, sharp analytical
mind, great sense of humor, and kind heart. Joseph loved to help and his volunteering work
touched many people. For over a decade, he volunteered at George Washington University’s
Veteran Service Initiative, the 6th Branch, and American Red Cross as a blood drive
coordinator.
Joseph is survived by his three children Joseph, Matthew, and Vivian, his parents Joseph and
Kathleen, and his sister Jennifer.
A Visitation will be held 1-3pm with a 3pm Service, Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Baldauff Family Funeral Home, 1233 Saxon blvd, Orange City, Fl 32763. Joseph’s final resting place will be at Arlington National
Cemetery where a military service will be held at a later date.
