John R. O'Bryan Sr. passed away peacefully away at home on December 8, 2016. He was born in Louisville, KY on October 21, 1938. John was a loving husband for 58 years of Shirley M. O'Bryan. John is survived by his wife, Shirley; brother, Richard;daughter, Cathy O'Bryan (Pete); son, John O'Bryan Jr (Jessica); gandchildren Shannon Jakubowski (Patrick), Thomas O'Bryan, Rebecca O'Bryan and great granddaughter Paige Jakubowski. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Edna and Richard O'Bryan and sister Patricia Achinger.John was a graduate of the University of Toledo, OH. John began his career as a CPA with Arthur Young & Co. His career spanned leadership roles at Haughton Elevator Co; EVP for Marriott Corporation; Chief Financial Officer for Ponderosa Inc.; partner in several accounting firms in Jacksonville and then in Deltona, FL.John was an active member of St. Ann's parish for more than 15 years. He was an avid golfer and had a 7 hole-in-one's. He was a past member and officer of Deland CC, Deltona CC and until his death a member of Glen Abby Golf Club. John always had a joke to tell and generous laugh at the 19th hole. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him. A family visitation (9am) Funeral Mass (10am) and reception will follow at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 26 Dogwood Trail, DeBary, Fl 32713 (386.668.8270), on Friday, 12/16. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Ann's Capital Development Fund (www.stannsdebary.org) St. Joseph's Indian School (www.stjo.org); or Boy's Town (www.boystown.org).
