John Peter Blix's Obituary
John Peter Blix of Orange City, Florida, entered into the presence of his Lord on July 20, 2012. He was born to the late Oscar Jentoff Blix and Josefa Nikilina Blix (nee Johansen) on July 16, 1927 in Andenes, Norway. His family immigrated to the United States on October 29, 1929 (the same date as the great crash on Wall Street which he would joke was his fault). Initially living in Queens, New York his family moved to Brooklyn, New York where he lived until 1974. He also lived in Shirley, New York, the West Palm Beach area in Florida, Titusville, Florida, and in 2007 moved to Orange City, Florida.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Shirley (nee Johnson). He was also preceded in death by his brother Arnold Blix and by his sisters Sigrid Oen Whalen, Anna Moschetti, and Lillian Jennings. He is survived by three children: Mark Blix of Orange City, Florida, Eric Blix of San Pedro, California, and Christine Meadows of Cocoa, Florida and by three grandchildren: Simone Gaines in the Navy, and Katie and Charlie Blix of Orange City, Florida.
John served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946 rising to the rank of Seaman First Class. He served on the destroyer USS Lang (DD-399) and then on R4D planes (also known as DC-3).
John worked as a NYC Bus Driver in Brooklyn from 1951 until he retired in 1977.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 P.M. on August 25, 2012 at First Baptist Church, Markham Woods at 5400 Markham Woods Road, Lake Mary, Fl. 32746. The service will be officiated by his pastor Chris Hatton of Grace Chapel, Sanford.
John's ashes will be inurned at Bushnell National Cemetery next to those of his wife.
