James P Clinton's Obituary
2018 06 05 Clinton, James Patrick – Obituary
James Patrick Clinton, 93, departed this world for a better one on June 4, 2018. Born in Manhattan on December 18, 1924, to Bridget (Donovan) and James Clinton, he was raised largely in the Bronx in an extended Irish family. After training as a Navigator in the Army Air Corps in WWII he earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Fordham University. He entered the field of Advertising on New York’s Madison Avenue, working for several companies including BBDO, Rumrill-Hoyt, Doremus & Company; beginning at William Esty where he met his wife of almost 55 years, Pat. They raised their three girls in Huntington, New York, and Lighthouse Point, Florida. Looking forward to retirement they built “Mr. Clinton’s Dream Home” in Deland, Florida.
Jim was an avid volunteer, serving the citizens of Huntington and Suffolk County, New York with the Huntington Auxiliary Police Department, where he achieved the position of Chief; later he spent ten years serving as an EMT and ambulance driver. In Florida his math skills found him a niche volunteering with AARP Tax Advisors for 21 years.
Multi-talented, his creative endeavors included oil painting, carpentry & woodworking, leather craft, gardening, and cooking. His efforts have been admired and enjoyed by many. Most recently his hobby was genealogical research. The stories he told of family history and his own life's experiences will be long remembered.
Preceded in death by his wife Patricia (Balch) Clinton, and brothers Edward and Thomas Clinton, he is survived by daughters Diane Clinton Lauck, Elizabeth (Steven) Doran, Kathleen (David) Malico; and sisters-in-law Gail Balch and Frances Clinton. He was a beloved and admired Grandpa to Robert James and Marina Lauck, Kacie, Patrick and Sean Doran, Alyson, Kelly and Erin Malico; and will be fondly remembered by his nephews and nieces. He is greatly missed by all.
Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
