Ingeborg Amery's Obituary
Ingeborg Amery, 100, of Deltona, Florida passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024. She was born in Bremen, Germany, the only child of Adolf and Henrietta Holzfuss. When she was 3 years old, her parents immigrated to the United States, and she remained in the care of her beloved Tanta Anna. Just before World War II, she joined her parents in New Jersey. After high school, she married Daniel Lanzetta. Following their divorce, she married Dorance Peaslee and they were together for more than 30 years until he died in 1991. In 1992, she married George Amery, who died in 2010.
During her long life, she worked in banking, law firms, retail, and estate sales. She was active in AARP, Red Hat Ladies, and the Food Bank as well as her church. She was noted for her elegant style and fluency in English, German, Italian and Spanish. Travel was her passion, and she visited Europe, Asia, Africa, and South and Central America. She completed over 20 cruises in her lifetime.
Inge prided herself in her German frugality and firmness, but she could be very warm and welcoming. She loved her family including her sister-in-law Eleanor, whom she regarded as a sister. Inge was also very fond of animals including strays. She was "Omi" and "Oma" to her grandchildren and "Miss Inge" to many others. On a daily basis, she prayed to God the Father and the Holy Spirit and looked forward to seeing her deceased family members and friends in Heaven.
Inge was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Hilde, her husbands, and her granddaughter Jenny Cress. She is survived by her daughter Elaine Peaslee, her sons-in-law Gary Schramm (Hilde), Joseph Cress (Elaine), and John Amery (Wendy); and her granddaughters Heidi Schramm Murphy (David) and Julie Peaslee. She is further survived by her nephew Rob Larkin (Gina) and her cousin Karl-Heinz Scharmbeck in Germany. In addition, she is survived by many friends, especially Lynn Gainey and Emily Morris for whom she was a second mom. As Lynn noted, "Its's hard to forget someone who gave us so much to remember." Inge's legacy of tough love and living life to the fullest will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
