Gaspar Elvin Mendez Rodriguez's Obituary
Gaspar Elvin Mendez Rodriguez age 84, resident of Deltona, Florida passed away peacefully on March 5, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on January 6, 1939, on Three Kings Day ( Epiphany) to Jose Dolores and Carmen Maria, in Santurce, Puerto Rico. As a curious note, he was registered as born February 1st, of the same year, making him 1 month younger.
He is survived by his beloved wife Rosalina, his children: Elvin Jr., Maritza, Eileen, Brenda, Jessica, and Evelina, 18 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and his sister. He was preceded by his parents, youngest sister, his son Oscar and one grandson.
Gaspar was a Puerto Rico National Guard member at a very young age. He then became an avid car and truck mechanic, a profession he exercised for more than 40 years. Later in life he also earned an Associate Degree. He was a boxing aficionado, liked playing pool, enjoyed things like reading and clipping the newspaper, listening to "trio" music, and loved eating; especially any Puerto Rican plate or dessert.
Funeral service will be held 1:00PM Friday March 10, 2023 at the Baldauff Family Funeral Home 1233 Saxon Blvd. Orange City, Florida. Visitation for family and friends will be from 11:00AM-1:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Enterprise Cemetery following the funeral service.
