Elizabeth W Baggett's Obituary
Elizabeth “Betsy” Baggett, 70, member of a pioneer Daytona Beach family, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Debary surrounded by family and close friends on Friday, August 25, 2017. She was a 1965 graduate of Seabreeze High School. Betsy worked for the State of Florida for 23 years. She was a property appraiser for Volusia County then transferred to Tallahassee finishing her state career there. She then fulfilled her dream by opening the Magnolia Bookstore in Deland in the late 90’s. In 2007, she co-owned the Blue Ridge Bookstore in Waynesville, N.C. for several years. She was the daughter of the late Buzz and Beverely Baggett. Her father was owner of Baggett-McIntosh Funeral Homes. Her grandfather was founder of Baggett-Wetherby Furniture and Funeral Directors in 1916. He also served as Daytona Beach’s third Mayor. Betsy’s great-grandfather was Mayor of the town of Seabreeze in the early 1900’s. Betsy’s greatest love was spending summers in her vacation home in Balsam, N.C. for her entire life. She was an avid animal lover and had many pets thoughout her life. She also enjoyed reading and gardening. Betsy is survived by her two loving twin daughters, Holly Ware and Helen Pomeroy and was a very proud grandmother to Jillian Giles, and Reagan, Kaytee, and Makell Ware, who lovingly helped care for her. She also had a grandson, Joshua Giles. Also survived by two brothers, Robert and Billy and sister Bonnie. Per Betsy’s wishes she will be cremated and her ashes will be scattered under the apple trees at the family vacation home in Balsam, N.C. A Celebration of Betsy’s Life will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 1:30 P.M. at Baldauff Funeral Home, 1233 Saxon Blvd, Orange City.
