Elaine Taylor's Obituary
Gloria Elaine Taylor, 86, of Orange City, FL passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2011. She was born on April 29, 1925 in Philadelphia, PA to parents Herbert and Mary (Young) Greenwood. Elaine graduated Roxborough High School in Philadelphia, PA in 1943. She married the love of her life Amos “Buck” Johnson Taylor, Jr. in 1945. Mrs. Taylor worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and for the Veterans Administration. Elaine and Buck moved to Washington, DC area in 1950 to 1979. She and her husband moved to Stuart, FL in 1979 where they enjoyed there retirement in Sewalls Point until 2010. She was loyal and faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Stuart. Elaine was an active member of the Nature Conservatory, Native Plant Society, Garden Club and Satin Leaf. She is proceeded in death by both of her parents; brothers, Herbert Greenwood and Roswell Little and sister, Elsie Gidley. She followed in death by her loving husband of 66 years on August 24, 2011. She is survived by her children, Joan Neal of Jensen Beach, FL, Richard Taylor of Palm Coast, FL, Deborah Price of Boyds, MD and Robert Taylor of Chicago, IL and six grandchildren. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. A memorial service will be held in her and her husband’s honor 10:00 am, Saturday, September 17, 2011 at First United Methodist Church of Stuart, 1500 South Kanner Highway, Stuart, FL with Pastor Phillip Short officiating. A funeral service will be held in their honor 3:00 pm, November 7, 2011 at Arlington National Cemetery, Post Chapel 400 McNair Drive, Fort Meyers, VA with Dr. Robert Chance officiating. Internment will immediately follow. A reception will be held at the Officers Club. The family asks that donations be made in her honor to Treasure Coast Wildlife Hospital, 8626 SW Citrus Blvd., Palm City, FL 34990.
