Elaine Jongeward's Obituary
Elaine Bergfalk Jongeward, 89, died September 11, 2010 at Florida Hospital Deland after a brief illness.
Mrs. Jongeward was born on December 19, 1920 in Duluth, Minnesota and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Maghan Bergfalk.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Dr. Robert Hubert Jongeward, Sr., a United Methodist Church minister. Elaine joined her husband in serving congregations in Boston, Massachusetts; Brooklyn, New York; and in multiple cities in Michigan before retiring to DeBary, and then Deltona, in 1980. She was also preceded in death by her sister Jean Bergfalk Daily and brothers Joseph, Clyde and Glen Bergfalk.
Mrs. Jongeward was the loving mother of Dr. Robert H. Jongeward Jr. and wife Barbara Firestone Jongeward of Portage, Michigan and Charles William Jongeward and wife Elizabeth Sorrell Jongeward of Saint Louis, Missouri and the devoted grandmother of Sarah Elizabeth Jongeward Tom (Andrew), Kathryn Lynn Humphrey (John), Andrew Robert Jongeward, Margaret Ann Jongeward Joseph (Eli) and Mary Elizabeth Jongeward.
Her Memorial Service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Deltona, Florida. Her ashes will rest in the Memorial Garden at the First United Methodist Church in Ann Arbor, the first church she and her husband served in Michigan.
