Dorothy Davatelis Hancock's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Dorothy Davatelis Hancock, who left us peacefully at the age of 88 on July 23, 2025 in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
Born in Paterson, New Jersey, Dorothy dedicated her life to her family, always putting the needs of her loved ones above her own. She worked for many years as a secretary, where her professionalism, kindness, and quiet strength touched the lives of many.
But it was at home where Dorothy truly shined. She was the heart of her family—deeply devoted to her son and daughter, and a constant source of love and wisdom to her grandchildren. Her greatest joy came from spending time with them, celebrating life’s milestones, and offering the warmth only a mother and grandmother could give.
Though she shared a deep love and bond with both her children, her relationship with her daughter, Laura, was especially close. Saturdays were their special time—spent shopping, strolling through the mall, and simply enjoying each other’s company. Those moments became a cherished tradition that reflected the love, laughter, and deep connection they shared.
Dorothy leaves to cherish the memories of her life, husband, Paul R. Hancock; daughter, Laura Crawford; son, Gregory Stuff; brother, Thomas Davatelis; grandchildren, Megan, Andrew and Haley; and great-granddaughter, Layla. Dorothy is preceded in death by her brother, Manny Davatelis and sister, Mary Davatelis Keefe.
Dorothy was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, strength, and grace will live on through her family and all the lives she touched.
