Donald Lee Schnider's Obituary
Donald Lee Schnider was born January 11, 1934 in Sioux Falls, SD to John Clarence "Dutch" and Mary (Wiltsey) Schnider and passed away January 9. 2025.
He grew up in Salem and attended St. Mary's School. He then joined the Army. Upon leaving the Army he settled in Florida and had a 37-year career with Florida Power & Light. He worked in the stores division and retired in 1993 at 59 years old.
When he retired, he and his wife Shirley Schnider enjoyed many years traveling to different parts of the country with their camper.
Don was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Debary, Florida. He served as an usher for many years.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, model A club of Orlando and had restored several Ford Model A's. Don also enjoyed woodworking, macrame, brain teaser games, sudoku and playing billiards.
Don is survived by his wife Shirley (Ganem) of Orange City, Florida. children Cynthia (Patrick) Blancher of Stuart, Florida, Michael (Kathy) Schnider of Melbourne, Florida. 2 stepsons Louis Ganem and Donald Ganem in Connecticut; grandchildren Mike (Casey) Schnider, Kaitlyn Dennison, Christopher Blancher, Peter Ganem and Samantha Ganem and seven great-grandchildren; brother Eugene (Dona) Schnider of Sioux Falls, SD and stepsister Kathy (Ruben) Roth of Brookings, SD.
He is preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Hazel, brother Robert Schnider, and cousin who was raised like a brother Jim Schnider.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arbor Day Foundations for trees.
