Debby Sue Squires' Obituary
Debra Sue Squires
August 6, 1957-January 23, 2021
Debby, sue Wight, Squires, 63, passed away on Saturday,
January 23, 2021 in DeLand, FL due to complications from
Covid-19. She was born in Denver, Colorado to Thomas and
Nadine (Liederbach) Wight on August 6, 1957, but she spent
most of her childhood in Mt. Prospect, Illinois before moving to
Deland, Florida,
Debby loved music. Her favorites were Elvis, the Beatles, Bon
Jovi, and the Bay City Rollers. Her face would light up like a
teenager when she listened to them! She liked watching
sporting events, just try getting between her and her favorite
football teams! She loved watching wrestling, especially WWE.
She also retained her childhood love of all things Disney,
especially those rascally chipmunks Chip & Dale.
Debby never met a bird she didn’t like. She was drawn to the
sound of a bird chirping and always seemed to have birdy num
nums on hand for them. Debby’s greatest joy, however, was
being a mother and grandmother. The minute Shannon was
born, she became the apple of her mother’s eye. During her life
she also accepted all of Shannon’s friends with open arms and
treated them as her own children. She always loved having
extra company in her home and their home was always a safe
place for anyone who needed it. She was a very kind, and
loving woman with a very big heart.
Debby is survived by her daughter Shannon Delaurie (husband
James) two grandchildren, Alex and Briar Delaurie of Deltona,
FL. her sister, Cathy McDowell (husband Lawrence Jr.) of
Highland, CA and her niece and nephew Wendi and Lawrence
III. Debby was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and
Nadine Wight. Debby will be dearly missed by her family and
friends. Memorial services will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the hospice program,
