David J. Reardon's Obituary
David John Reardon, born July 20, 1947 in Jersey City, NJ; died at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford, Fl. after a long illness. A graduate of St. Mary High School, Jersey City, NJ. Dave served as a medic in the U.S. Army and was awarded 2 Purple Hearts during his tour of duty in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968.
Dave joined the Jersey City Police Department in 1978 and received numerous awards and commendations during his 25 years with the force. He retired with the rank of Detective in 2004. He lived in Jersey City and Old Bridge, NJ before moving to DeBary, Florida in 2004. Dave was a member of the Hudson County Chapter of the Emerald Society, a Member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Police Officers Benevolent Association and VFW Post 8093 in DeBary, Fl.
Predeceased by his father, Robert Reardon and brothers Keith Reardon, Adrian Reardon, Craig Reardon, Stuart Reardon, Dennis Reardon and Robert Reardon. Dave is survived by his wife of 30 years, Susan Fickert Reardon; daughter, Kristen Allen and her partner Marty Carstens of Phoenix, AZ; son, Robert D. Allen III; daughter-in-law, Dana Allen and grandson Aidan James Allen of Clifton, NJ. Also survived by his mother, Alicia Coleman Reardon of Lake Placid, Florida; sisters, Alicia Delaney and her husband Leo of Bridgewater, NJ, Marcia Grossmann and her husband Edward of Holmdel, NJ; brothers, Wayne Reardon of Lake Placid, FL and Christopher Reardon of Perth Amboy, NJ along with numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to either the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
