Daniel Malloy's Obituary
Daniel B. Malloy, 80, of DeBary, Florida, passed away at home peacefully on July 5, 2025, with his devoted wife by his side. Daniel was born on December 30, 1944, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
A happy, carefree spirit, Dan believed that life was meant to be embraced fully—and he did just that. Whether setting sail on his beloved sailboat or embarking on one of more than fifty International cruises with the love of his life, Cheryl, Dan saw adventure not as a destination but as a way of life.
He was a man of quiet confidence, determination and boundless competence—able to fix anything, build everything, and do it all without fanfare. Self-reliant to his core, Dan was the kind of man you could always count on—whether you needed your sink fixed, a steady hand, or a lifelong friend. His friendships, once formed, endured the test of time. That was the kind of person he was—genuine, loyal, and deeply kind.
Dan's greatest love was Cheryl, his wife of 53 years. Their marriage was a beautiful example of lasting love and true partnership. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, travel, and good foods—often ending with Dan enjoying a bowl of his favorite ice cream and a delicious meal Cheryl had lovingly prepared.
Those who knew Dan will remember his outgoing nature, his razor-sharp mind, and his warmth. He had an effortless way of making everyone feel like an old friend. He lived with gratitude, laughed easily, and loved deeply.
Dan leaves cherished memories of his life, to his beloved wife, Cheryl, as well as extended family, friends who became family, and a legacy of joy, resilience, and boundless curiosity about the world. His memory will live on in every sea breeze, every shared scoop of ice cream, and every life he touched along the way.
A celebration of Dan’s life will be held at a later time up north. If you would like to make a donation in his honor, please send it to the American Heart Association. But in the meantime to celebrate his life, take a moment to do something that brings you joy—go for a walk at the beach, call an old friend, or watch the sunset with a nice cup of ice cream—and think of Dan. That’s how he’d want to be remembered.
