Charles Earl Dimmick's Obituary
Dr. Charles E. Dimmick of Orange City, Florida departed this world August 19, 2011. He was born March 20, 1920 in Duquesne, PA, the son of Dr. Earl A. and Marian Ziegenfus Dimmick.
A graduate of University of Pittsburgh, with the degree Doctor of Dental Surgery, he lived and practiced in the Pittsburgh area many years.
He was a World War II veteran with service in The Pacific Theater, serving in 31st Infantry Division; 24th Reg. Army Division and 24th Medical Battalion Rank of Captain. Active on the American Cancer Board of Flagler County, life membership Penn Brotherhood Masonic Lodge #635 and had a lifelong love of fishing and Canada. Was active in Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, Pittsburgh, Trinity Presbyterian of Palm Coast, and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Deland, FL.
He is survived by wife, Naomi Lasley; by two sons Charles Earl, Jr. and Kirk Duncan; sisters Isabelle Todd and Carolyn Shull; ten grandchildren Laura and Tristan Dimmick; Alex, John, Evan and Drew Dimmick; Alex Williams; Luke Cooper and Tina Crull; Stewart Charles Dimmick.
He was predeceased by two children a daughter Patricia Cooper, a son Gary Stewart; first wife Martha Stewart; and a sister Beryl Dimmick.
Memorial service will be conducted in auditorium of John Knox Village, Orange City, Sept. 11, 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Tr., Port Orange, FL 32129 or American Diabetes Assoc. 1-800-DIABETES.
