Charles Cirone's Obituary
Charles P. Cirone, 93, joined his Lord and Savior on August 10, 2012. He is survived by his wife Ann, the love of his life, having celebrated 61 beautiful years of marriage.
Known by his friends as “Charlie” he was born in Port Chester, NY and worked at Playland Amusement Park in Rye, NY for 33 years as the head grounds keeper. He was celebrated as an artist for the beautiful gardens he maintained at Playland. After moving to Deltona, FL in 1973 he worked at the Medical Arts building in Deltona for 12 years as the grounds keeper. Gardening was his passion whether for others or his own backyard. Charlie was also an avid golfer at Deltona Country Club in the 70’s.
Sergeant Charles P. Cirone served in the army during WWII as a tank commander in Company D, 757th tank battalion. He was awarded the bronze star for his bravery on the Fifth army front in Italy in 1944. He spent five years with the army serving under General Patton both in Africa and Italy.
Besides his wife, Ann, Charlie is survived by a large extended family in Florida and Connecticut. He often referred to his Connecticut nieces and nephew Joe DeBartolo, Debra Hayes, Jodi O’Connell, Mary DeBartolo and Linda Reidy (of FL) as “his kids” and got much joy watching their families grow. His love of life and amazing sense of humor gave him the ability to reach inside the hearts of all those he met and touch them in such a special way ... he brought a smile to our day and will be deeply missed.
