Charles Benson Shepherd Jr.'s Obituary
Charles “Benson” Shepherd Jr. (Pop) passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 6:38 PM at the age of 57. His battle with pancreatic cancer ended while surrounded by his family and friends.
Benson Shepherd was born in Greenville, South Carolina in 1954 to his late mother Willia May and his surviving father Charles Benson Shepherd Sr. Benson eventually settled into the sleepy town of Debary, Florida where he met his wife, Brenda, and was happily married for 24 years.
Benson’s passions included auto racing, motorcycles and spending time with his many friends. Benson made a living as a traveling sales manager in the auto parts industry and if he was not hard at work at BBB Industries he was working on his home making it a place of welcome.
Through that time the family has grown to include his daughter Brandie Michelle Pickens (Jason) with his grandchildren Brendan (14), J.C. (12), Lillie Grace (6) of Debary, Florida and his daughter Toni Lynn Bradley with his grandson Dylan Bradley (12) of Weaverville, North Carolina.
Besides his wife Brenda, daughters, son-in-law, 4 grandchildren and father, Benson is survived by his brother Glenn Shepherd (Kay) of Travelers Rest, South Carolina and their three children Chris, Angela and Michael. He is also survived by his brother Philip (Kimberly) Shepherd and their son William of Greenville, South Carolina.
Benson’s love of people and his ability to make friends easily drove him and made him a cherished friend to so many. As such he has a very large extended family that is too numerous to name but no less loved and will miss him dearly.
